Norma Christie Grade 5 Christie | CHILDREN'S THOUGHTS January 19, 2013

Children’s Thoughts

When I came into Grade 5, I didn’t want to be in Miss Christie’s

class, but she came over to me and said, “just stay for the first

week and try me out.” Then she hugged me. She knew I was not

behaving well and when my classmates went to see her in the hospital

she sent ‘hello’ for me and said she hope I was doing good in school.

She cared for me and loved me.

Miss Christie…

  • Was a good teacher whom you could rely on
  • Was a teacher that if you did not understand she would make it more simple for you to understand.
  • Was a good teacher that will make jokes
  • Was a teacher who cared for us and loved us
  • Was very strict but we knew she loved us and we loved her too
  • Was always slow and steady when she was teaching
  • Was a strong teacher
  • Was a blessed woman
  • Loved us although she knew some of us behaved badly
  • I liked her hair
  • She has a good sense of humour

Norma Christie Karen | DEDICATION AND CONVICTION January 18, 2013
The bandage falls, and belief becomes conviction. Liberation
and redemption lie only in conviction. It is not everyday
that you meet one human being with dedication that can
stretch from Kingston to Manchester and back. A conviction
in the belief, development and potential of the young
mind. Christie was that convicted soul.

“As you move from this existence to the next one my friend
Deon and I will always remember your dedication to our
children and the success they make of their lives... walk
good mi fren and remember, Deon have somebody fi
collect di paadner wen yuh reach”

Blessings Karen
Norma Christie L. DuBois | SHE PUSHED ME TO EXCEL January 18, 2013
Ms Christie was the best teacher ever. Always cheerful with
a smile. Always fashionable ...well-dressed and coordinated
from head to toe. Remember those fabulous
necklaces... The greatest thing is that she pushed me to
excel and was very patient and caring. I love her.

Norma Christie Abigail Wong | INSTILLED A LOVE OF READING January 18, 2013
Ms. Christie was my fifth grade teacher. I credit my love for
reading to her. She was so patient and kind, I never felt
like a fool. I can still remember those burst of laughter, that
gentle smile that made you feel you were always
important I miss her a lot and just want to say what a
profound impact she had on me. As a teacher today, I try
to be the kind of teacher she was.

Norma Christie Jahvi J | SAVED FROM EMBARRASSMENT January 18, 2013
Never forget the day a group of us was sent to the library for
non-payment of school fees.

Miss Christie saw me and said, “Get back to class Boy”! I told
her I was sent by the class teacher. She said “Your mother
and I went and paid that bill and she gave the voucher to the
bursar, Mr. Smith”.

Thanks Ms. Christie. You saved me the embarrassment.
