                        Dear June,
You were a friend, a confidante, a teacher for my children.
Don't know if the oversize shoes you leave behind can ever
be filled.
Gone too soon.
You will be greatly missed, especially on Sundays.
You will be always be in our hearts.

                    | Norma Christie | Hope United Church Choir | AN AURA OF SERENITY | January 19, 2013 |

June Christie, affectionately called ‘Christie’ by some
choristers, was considered to be a likeable, approachable
person who exuded an aura of serenity in keeping with her
calm personality.
This lady was always beautifully attired and also was a
committed member of the choir who could be relied on to
fulfil any tasks she undertook. Her contribution to the life
of the choir is well recognized. How can we forget her
pleasant warm countenance which understandably
showed signs of concern during that stressful period of her
father’s illness. Yet during her sickness she continued to
exhibit that calm serenity even as she suffered as it was
not her nature to cause distress on anyone.
As we reflect and give thanks for her life may we be
comforted and inspired by these words:
“ Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful: May the
fire of our devotion light their way: May the footprints that
we leave lead them to believe, and the lives we live inspire
them to obey.” Jon Mohr
Rest in God’s peace, June.

June was an exceptional human being. She exemplified
life, laughter and an irrepressible belief and faith in seeing
the best in everyone and everything.
This is not the time for us to grieve her death but to celebrate
her life. She wanted to make everyone happy. So as
we give thanks for her life, let us all think back and remember
how she inspired us. June Christie was a remarkable
individual, the personification of happiness and goodness.
She was jovial, and generous with her time and affection -
never displaying anger or impatience. Instead, she showed
dignity and humour. Her cheerful attitude, her diverse interests,
and her happy demeanor made her a wonderful
person to know.
She led by example and she mentored many students. She
worked hard and consistently. She remained a student of
life and she never stopped learning. She never sat back
and became complacent. June was indeed a role model
and an inspiration to so many. It is very hard to say goodbye
and we do not want to, but we need to remember that
she touched so many people's lives, so positively.
Words, even the very best of words, cannot pay tribute or
truly capture the sense of loss that we are all feeling today.
The loss is there, tangible and real within everyone. So as
we express our loss, let us remember an amazing person
who played a unique and special role in all of our lives. She
leaves an awesome legacy behind and for that we will always
be grateful.

We miss you - but we remember you fondly - always!
Walk good my friend !

                        We’ll Remember You
Your sojourn with us was very short
But you’re a precious part of our history
Though a few months was all you could spare
We’ll remember you, our dear Miss Christie
We’ll remember you for you filled our minds
With knowledge we’ll need for many, many years
We are more equipped than we were before
For you enriched our minds with genuine care
We’ll remember you for your wisdom shared
When our silly ways were holding us back
Every thought which you expressed to us
Was said to get us all back on the right track
We will remember your sterling example
Of extending yourself even when it hurt
You exemplified service despite the odds
When health said, “no”, you made the effort
We’ll remember what you wrote in our books
We’ll remember each comment you made
We’ll remember each painful step you took
To ensure that we could all make the grade
Thank you, dear teacher, for entering our lives
Thank you for enriching our academic history
Thanks for your fine contribution to ‘Grade 5
Mona Prep‘-never the same without you, Miss Christie.

                    | Norma Christie | Marion and Carolyn | OUR "SISTER JUNIE" | January 19, 2013 |

June Christie, “Sister Junie” as we affectionately called her, was our cousin. But, there is a reason why we called her sister... that is because she was more like a sister to us. As a matter of fact, she was more than that...she was a friend, a confidante, and to Jason... she was a mother. Whenever she visited us she would always leave something behind, so when she is leaving we would do a little check... “Sister June, you have your phone, your glasses, your earrings, your scrungie, etc.” Now she has left us behind and we have to take comfort in the fact that she is now in the arms of God. Sister Junie, has left behind the love for family, friends, students... and most of all her son Jason and grand-daughter, Grace.
Rest now our Sister... We love you, always...
